Clothes Swapping and Workshop Events
Swap your clothing with the thrifty community on our dedicated swapping days, at The Joinery, in partnership with the Adelaide Sustainability Centre!
Swapping your clothing promotes the reduction, reuse, and recycling of clothing. Large corporations often end up discarding most of their clothing donations to landfill in third-world countries, but at Sustainable Clothing Co, nothing goes to waste.
Anything left over at the end of the swap days goes onto homelessness, women's shelters through the Anti-Poverty Network, Dress for Success and other various charities, any items deemed as unsalvageable go to State-wide Cleaning Cloths and Recycle Smart to be mechanically shredded and separated to create new products and textiles.
Workshops are run by local artists, stylists and makers teaching upcycling, customizing and mending clothing, which offers a hands-on opportunity for young Australians to be involved in sustainability by learning to care for and dispose of clothing in a more environmentally friendly way.
Check out the Markets & Events page or the Facebook Events page for more information on any upcoming events.

Recycle Unsalvageable Clothing or Fabric Scraps
You can recycle unwanted fabrics and clothing that is deemed unsalvageable at Sustainable Clothing Co, through our partnership with State-wide Cleaning Cloths and Recycle-Smart, where the fabrics are recycled into industrial rags, insulation, pet bedding and more.
Simply pop into the store with your unsalvageable items and fabric scraps and place them in the rag bin provided. Please make sure bag is sealed.

Sustainable Clothing Co. Lady-Boss Laura
Laura is the face behind Sustainable Clothing Co, launching the business in October 2018 with a special event evening featuring a screening of 'The True Cost', followed by a talk on the pros and cons of slow-fashion vs fast-fashion, a streetwear fashion show, a raffle prize draw and a break-dance performance.
Find out more about the 2018 SCO launch night!
Laura has been collecting and curating vintage and pre-loved clothing from other collectors, auctions, estate sales, markets, liquidated shops and deadstock since 2006. Inspired by creative streetstyle, online fashion forums, electronic dance music festivals, and ground-breaking Japanese fashion trends, Laura's wonderful and wacky personal collection grew so much that she found herself reselling her pieces at the very first Round She Goes Market in Adelaide, in 2012.
In-line with the motivation to live a healthier lifestyle, Laura began to take her clothing resale hobby in a sustainable direction, by focusing creating a brand that focuses on the importance of buying and re-wearing second-hand clothing, attempting to go against the use of mass-produced, fast-fashion.
